About this position

This research investigates the enhanced moisture management and stability provided by wicking geotextiles, which incorporate absorbent yarns into high-strength polyester fabrics. By improving in-plane drainage, wicking geotextiles reduce rainwater infiltration, capillary rise, and moisture-related deformation in reinforced soil structures. Key benefits include the use of in-situ soils, lower carbon emissions, and better bonding with backfill, making them ideal for climate-resilient, sustainable construction. Through lab models and real-world testing, this study aims to validate their effectiveness in controlling moisture and improving soil slope stability, advancing ESG goals and resilient infrastructure development.
