About this position
The INFORMS Information Systems Society (ISS) is inviting applications for its Third Doctoral Consortium 2026, a half-day event for PhD students researching Information Systems and related fields. The consortium will take place on Friday afternoon, October 30, 2026, immediately before the Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST) in San Francisco, California.
This opportunity is designed to help doctoral researchers strengthen their dissertation work and professional development. Participants will engage with senior faculty mentors, receive in-depth feedback on dissertation research and progress, and build connections within the IS research community. The event is especially aimed at students in the dissertation phase of their PhD program, typically in the 4th or 5th year.
Application materials must be combined into one PDF and include: a cover letter, applicant CV, a 5-page abstract of dissertation research, and a nomination letter from the advisor. Each advisor may nominate no more than one student. Applications are due by June 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time, and decisions will be announced by August 18, 2026.
The consortium is co-chaired by Martin Bichler (Technical University of Munich), Ting Li (Erasmus University Rotterdam), D.J. Wu (Georgia Institute of Technology), and Ling Xue (University of Georgia). There is no registration fee for the event. If you are a PhD student in Information Systems, management, or closely related digital/technology fields, this is a strong opportunity for research feedback, mentoring, and networking.
