About this position

Innovation Roadmap Industry Internship Program at the University of Oslo’s dScience – Centre for Computational and Data Science is now accepting applications from PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers (and related early-career researchers in the postdoc track) who want to gain industry experience while staying connected to their academic careers.

This opportunity is designed for researchers interested in biotechnology, computational and data science, medical imaging, neuroscience, molecular biology, aquaculture, food science, mathematics, statistics, and molecular modelling. The program connects participants with leading industry and innovation partners such as BioInnovation Institute, AstraZeneca, Testa Centre, Seaweed Solutions, DNV, and others.

For PhD candidates: the internship lasts three months and must start no later than 20 September 2026 and end by 20 December 2026. Applicants must be current PhD students at Norwegian universities/university colleges, have completed at least one year of the PhD by the deadline, and have a PhD end date no earlier than 31 December 2026. The internship is physically located at the host company, and participants must arrange leave from their home institution. For placements abroad, a valid work permit is required.

For postdoctoral researchers and early-career researchers: the internship lasts two months, with the contract ending no earlier than 31 December 2026. Eligible applicants are postdocs and researchers at Norwegian universities/university colleges. The internship focuses on innovation-oriented tasks, business and innovation strategy, market and ecosystem mapping, product development pathways, regulatory/IP landscape analysis, project management, and stakeholder communication. Participants remain employed by their home university and take leave during the placement.

Funding: the program is fully financed by Innovation Roadmap during the internship period. PhD interns receive salary coverage for three months plus travel and accommodation support of 25,000–40,000 NOK depending on location. Postdoctoral/early-career participants receive salary coverage for three months plus travel and accommodation support of 25,000–35,000 NOK depending on location.

Application requirements: submit a motivation letter of about one page explaining your motivation, how the internship supports your career, what you can offer a company, and what you hope to gain. Also submit a CV of up to two pages including education, work experience, extracurricular activities, and industry experience if any. Applications are non-binding, and selection is based on matching with host organizations and their proposed work plans.

Deadline: Sunday 21 June 2026. The internship start is planned for September 2026.

Funding details

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
