About this position

The Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Lleida (IRBLleida) is offering a postdoctoral fellowship within its Molecular Oncology group, located in Lleida, Spain. This position is designed for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher (R2) interested in advancing research on the molecular mechanisms underlying the initiation and progression of gastrointestinal tumors, particularly colorectal and gastric cancers. The group’s research aims to improve diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients, with a special focus on the personalization of chemotherapeutic treatments and the identification of new molecular biomarkers to predict patient response to small molecule chemotherapeutic agents.

The fellowship is funded by IRBLleida and offers a full-time, two-year contract with a gross annual salary of 31,826.25 EUR. The group provides a dynamic and stimulating scientific environment, access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, and opportunities for professional development. IRBLleida is a CERCA center, recognized as a Centre of Excellence by the Carlos III Health Institute and awarded the 'HR Excellence in Research' distinction by the European Commission, reflecting its commitment to fair and transparent recruitment practices.

Applicants must hold a PhD in biological or biomedical sciences obtained after January 2024 (with exceptions as detailed in the call), and demonstrate a strong publication record, including at least one first-author publication in a top-tier international journal. A solid background in oncology and/or molecular or cellular biology is essential. Additional valued qualifications include co-authorship in further publications, research stays, conference participation, experience supervising students, science engagement activities, certification for animal experimental models, strong communication skills, fluency in English, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Recipients of Juan de la Cierva, Sara Borrell, or Beatriu de Pinós postdoctoral fellowships are not eligible.

To apply, candidates should email their complete CV, motivation letter, and contact details for references to [email protected], indicating 'IREP026-EU' in the subject line. The application deadline is April 30th, 2026 at 12:00 (Europe/Madrid). The selection process includes pre-selection based on CV, motivation letter, and experience, followed by interviews for shortlisted candidates.
