JRF and paid internship openings in MEMS pressure sensor tensiometer for agriculture and 6G communication National Institute of Technology Meghalaya in

National Institute of Technology Meghalaya is advertising two research openings in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE): a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position and a highly paid internship. The openings are linked to projects on MEMS-based sensing for agriculture and 6G communication for critical data transmission during natural calamities in Northeast India.

The JRF project is titled Development of On-chip MEMS Pressure Sensor based Tensiometer for Agriculture. The work sits at the intersection of Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, and Agriculture, with emphasis on MEMS, sensor design, analog and digital design, IoT, SoC, and EDA tools. The fellowship is INR 37,000 per month, available for up to 2 years or until project completion. Accommodation is as per institute norms, and PhD study may be allowed as per institute norms. Eligible applicants include M.Tech./M.E. graduates in VLSI, microelectronics, or related areas; M.Sc. candidates with GATE/NET; and GATE-qualified B.Tech./B.E. candidates in ECE or related disciplines.

The internship is TTDF-sponsored and focuses on 6G standardization, microwave technology, antenna design, and sensor-based monitoring for remote-location data transmission during natural calamities. It is aimed at B.Tech students, preferably in the 4th year, in ECE or allied branches such as EIE and EE, as well as 2nd-year M.Tech. students in ECE or allied areas including Microwave Engineering, Communication, Instrumentation, and Embedded Systems. The stipend is INR 25,000 per month.

Supervisors named in the post include Dr. Prabir Kumar Saha, Dr. Pradeep Kumar Rathore, and Dr. Shubhankar Majumdar, all Assistant Professors at NIT Meghalaya. The JRF walk-in interview is on 1 June 2026 at 3:00 PM in ECE Laboratory (1), and the internship interview is on 3 June 2026 with joining between 4 June and 12 June 2026.
