About this position
The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur is inviting applications for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Senior Research Fellow (SRF) position under a BRNS-funded project. The research focuses on the development of advanced thermal spray coatings for nuclear applications, with an emphasis on high-temperature oxidation kinetics, structure–property correlations, and the use of robotic-assisted automation in coating processes.
The selected candidate will work on developing thermal spray coatings on metallic substrates, designing and developing experimental setups to study oxidation in water vapour atmospheres, and analyzing the structure–property relationships of oxidized samples. This opportunity provides hands-on experience in automation, controls, and next-generation coating technologies relevant to strategic nuclear research.
Eligibility requires a B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields. The position is open to candidates with relevant research experience, with the level (JRF or SRF) determined accordingly. The initial appointment is for 6 months, extendable up to 1 year based on performance and project needs. The consolidated salary is ₹37,000 per month for JRF and ₹42,000 per month for SRF. Meritorious candidates may be eligible to join the PhD program at IIT Jodhpur after 6 months, subject to institute rules and performance.
To apply, interested candidates should send their CV and a short statement of interest to Professor Ravi K.R. at [email protected], using the subject line 'JRF/SRF_Thermal Spray Coating'. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in materials science, mechanical engineering, and automation to contribute to impactful research in nuclear technology.
