Applications are invited for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) position at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali in a DBT-funded project on Magnetic Gold Atomic Clusters for Next-Generation Spin-Based Quantum Bio-Sensing.

This interdisciplinary opening is aimed at candidates with interests in quantum mechanics, quantum chemistry, computational physics, computational chemistry, magnetism, materials science, nanoscience, and spin-based quantum sensing. The work involves advanced DFT, electronic structure theory, molecular dynamics, and computational/theoretical modelling in collaboration with experimentalists and biologists.

Eligibility highlights: first-class postgraduate degree (M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc./M.Tech. or equivalent) in relevant science/engineering areas; strong background in quantum mechanics and related computational/theoretical methods; and NET/GATE/JEST/GPAT qualification as per DBT norms. Age limit mentioned is not more than 28 years on 21 June 2026, with relaxation as per Government of India rules.

Funding: fellowship of ₹37,000/month + HRA (as applicable). The appointment is initially for 1 year and may be extended up to 3 years based on performance and fund availability.
