About this position

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is inviting applications for two Junior Research Fellow (JRF) positions under a DST-sponsored research project titled "Towards Trusted-Node-Free Hybrid Quantum Secure Communication Networks." The project focuses on the development of optical wireless communication systems integrated with Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), aiming to advance secure quantum communication technologies. The Principal Investigator for this project is Dr. Anshul Jaiswal.

Eligible candidates must be Indian nationals with either an M.E./M.Tech. in EE/EC/Physics or equivalent (CGPA ≥ 6.0), or a B.E./B.Tech. in ECE or equivalent (CGPA ≥ 7.5 out of 10.0). Additionally, candidates should have qualified a national level test (such as GATE/NET) or possess a degree from a CFTI. A strong understanding of Digital Communication, Information Theory, and Probability Theory is essential. Preference will be given to SC/ST candidates with equal qualifications and experience.

The fellowship offers ₹37,000 per month plus HRA for the first two years, increasing to ₹42,000 plus HRA thereafter. The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension up to March 2031, depending on project requirements and performance. Selected candidates may also have the opportunity to pursue a PhD at IIT Roorkee.

Applicants should submit a detailed CV and copies of degree/certificates via email to [email protected] by 15 January 2026, 11:59 PM. For more information, candidates can refer to the official advertisement and the academic profile of Dr. Anshul Jaiswal. The research area is highly interdisciplinary, combining elements of quantum physics, electrical engineering, and advanced communication technologies, making it ideal for candidates interested in cutting-edge quantum secure networks and optical wireless communication.
