About this position
Lecturer in Sociology and Social Policy (Teaching and Scholarship) at the University of Leeds.
This opportunity is aimed at current PhD researchers in the School of Sociology and Social Policy who are close to completion, awaiting viva, or who have been awarded their PhD within the last 12 months. It is a development-focused lectureship designed to give early-career researchers first-hand experience in teaching and scholarship within higher education.
The role supports delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the School’s programmes, with opportunities to contribute to pedagogic research projects and professional development. Applicants with interests or experience in sociology, social policy, disability studies, and society, culture and media are especially encouraged to apply, although candidates from all areas of expertise are welcome.
This is a job opportunity rather than a scholarship or studentship. The post includes salary and standard university employment benefits such as holiday entitlement, pension contributions, life assurance, staff wellbeing and gym access, training, childcare, and travel discounts.
To apply, use the online application portal linked in the vacancy notice. For informal enquiries, contact Professor Karen Throsby, Head of School, at [email protected].
Funding details
Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
How to apply
Please submit your application including a cover letter, CV, academic transcripts, and contact information for two references. Applications should be sent via the online portal before the deadline.
