Carnegie Mellon University, Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of English, is seeking applications for a career-track Lecturer in the Writing & Communication Program. This three-year, renewable, non-tenure-track appointment begins in Fall 2026 and is ideal for candidates with a terminal degree (PhD preferred) in Writing Studies, Rhetoric, Composition, Technical Communication, Applied Linguistics, or related fields.

The Lecturer will teach courses focused on writing for public audiences, professional and organizational contexts, writing about quantitative, scientific, and technical information, research-based academic writing, and/or second-language writing. The role emphasizes writing pedagogy, collaboration on curriculum and assessment, and engagement with technology-enhanced learning projects, including GenAI and corpus-based approaches. The teaching load is 3-3, with the possibility of a 3-2 load if opportunities arise. The position offers defined opportunities for career advancement within the Lecturer track and a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.

Applicants should have 3-5 years of teaching experience in first-year writing, second-language writing, writing in the disciplines, professional and technical communication, or data-driven writing.
