About this position
A PhD opportunity on the subject of fatigue in metallic materials. Have a look!
PhD Opportunity Coming Soon – ERC-funded Project "BREAKDOWN"
I am about to open a PhD position in the context of the ambitious ERC-funded project BREAKDOWN, focused on developing next-generation predictive tools for fatigue in metallic materials.
I am looking for a highly motivated candidate with:
- A Master’s degree (or near completion) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Civil Engineering
- Strong fundamental knowledge in solid mechanics, fatigue and fracture mechanics
The PhD work may include both experimental and numerical aspects of fatigue, involving:
· Performing multiscale mechanical characterisation
· Designing, developing, and implementing theoretical approaches
· Mastering and advancing ad hoc numerical models, such as Crystal Plasticity, Phase-Field Modeling, and Machine Learning
