About this position

The Hansen Laboratory at the Chinese Institutes for Medical Research (CIMR) in Beijing is seeking a postdoctoral researcher specializing in electrophysiology and cellular signaling. The lab focuses on understanding the molecular basis of human disease by studying the signaling of excitable cells in their native three-dimensional state. Major research projects include investigating the molecular mechanisms of general anesthesia, the role of brain cholesterol in Alzheimer's disease, and membrane-mediated mechanisms of mechanosensation.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrophysiological equipment, as well as establishing and improving equipment management systems. Key duties include designing and executing in vivo or cellular electrophysiology experiments, preparing electrodes, acquiring and processing signals, analyzing and interpreting experimental data, and writing experimental reports. The postdoc will also train other technicians in electrophysiology techniques, provide experimental guidance, and participate in research projects, including writing research papers.

Applicants must hold a PhD in a relevant biomedical or biochemical field and have at least one year of full-time experience with whole cell or patch clamp electrophysiology. Experience with ligand gated channels, voltage gated calcium channels, and potassium channels is preferred. The position offers a competitive salary (negotiable based on experience and ability), social insurance, housing fund, supplementary medical insurance, physical examination, paid annual leave, and career development support.

The lab is led by Dr. Scott B Hansen, an Associate Investigator at CIMR and Professor at Capital Medical University, with extensive experience in molecular medicine and neuroscience. The application deadline is February 20, 2026.

For more information and to apply, visit the CIMR Hansen Lab webpage or contact Dr. Hansen directly.
