About this position
The Meng Lab at Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Section of Neurology, is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to join their research team in Houston, Texas. The lab specializes in studying neurological disorders using brain organoids derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). Research in the Meng Lab integrates advanced techniques such as CRISPR-Cas9-based genetic screening, antisense oligonucleotide (ASO)-mediated mRNA modification, single-cell RNA sequencing, confocal live imaging, and biochemical assays to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying neurological diseases and to develop novel gene therapies.
The lab’s work addresses conditions including autism, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative diseases, aiming to uncover pathogenic mechanisms and translate findings into therapeutic strategies. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training in hiPSC-derived brain organoid technology and participate in interdisciplinary research.
Responsibilities include independently and collaboratively conducting research projects, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation, grant applications, laboratory operations, and contributing to the training of students and other trainees. Minimum qualifications are an MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field, with no prior postdoctoral experience required. Preferred candidates will have a strong motivation to lead research projects, prior neuroscience experience, and skills in CRISPR screening, drug screening, gene editing, NGS technologies (RNAseq, chIP-seq, ATACseq), and advanced imaging.
The position offers a competitive salary up to $70,000 per year and is full-time, onsite in Houston. Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer. For more information about the PI and lab, visit the provided academic profile link.
