About this position
Linköping University is recruiting for PhD student and postdoctoral researcher positions in electrocatalysis for sustainable energy conversion in the Lizhou Fan group.
The research focuses on catalyst design, operando spectroscopy, mechanism investigation, and electrolyzer system optimization for applications such as CO2 conversion, water splitting, biomass-derived molecule upgrading, and other small-molecule transformations.
For the postdoc, the university seeks candidates with a doctoral degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related field, plus a strong background in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, or materials chemistry. Experience with operando methods such as Raman, FTIR, or XAS, as well as catalyst synthesis, electrochemical testing, reactor design, and mechanistic studies, is especially valued.
For the PhD position, applicants should have a Master’s degree in chemistry or materials, or equivalent preparation with at least 240 credits including 60 advanced credits in those areas. Relevant experience includes electrochemistry, catalyst synthesis, surface/interface science, electrolyzer testing, and operando spectroscopy.
The positions are based in the Division of Materials Design, Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, at Linköping University. The group works in an interdisciplinary environment with international collaborations and a strong focus on linking catalytic mechanisms to practical performance.
Funding/employment: The postdoc is a full-time temporary employment for two years with possible extension up to three years. The PhD student position is normally four years full-time equivalent, with possible extension up to five years depending on teaching and departmental duties. Salary is individually set for the postdoc and follows local progression for PhD students.
Deadline: 3 June 2026.
How to apply: Use the university application portal on the vacancy pages and submit your application before the deadline. The postdoc announcement asks applicants to attach selected publications electronically; printed publications must be mailed if they cannot be uploaded.
