Pravata Lab at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is recruiting for fully funded PhD and postdoc positions in neurodevelopmental biology, glycosylation, and brain organoid research.

The lab, led by Veronica Pravata, focuses on how post-translational modifications (PTMs)—especially glycosylation—shape human brain development. Research themes include the molecular logic of cortical development, the neural glycoproteome, developmental robustness, evolutionary divergence of the human brain, and disease vulnerability.

Current projects span iPSC-derived neural organoids, quantitative mass spectrometry, advanced imaging, single-cell RNA sequencing, and CRISPR Prime Editing. One PhD project centers on the mechanisms of Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation (CDGs), while the postdoc project examines the evolutionary dynamics of the neural glycoproteome during cortical development and across primate contexts.
