About this position

Two open research positions are available in the Professorship of Computational Fluid Dynamics at the Technical University of Munich: a PhD/doctoral researcher and a postdoctoral researcher. The group’s research focuses on computational fluid dynamics, multiphysics modeling, turbulent multiphase flows, numerical analysis, partial differential equations, and high-performance computing, with applications in energy systems, aerospace, sustainable transport, hydrogen production, and environmental flows.

The doctoral project is broadly centered on computational modeling of multiphysics and turbulent multiphase flows. The exact dissertation topic will be developed during the programme according to the student’s interests and strengths and the professorship’s scientific directions. The postdoctoral role is aimed at candidates with a background in computational mathematics or physics and experience developing numerical schemes for multiphysics PDEs in fluid dynamics, especially on heterogeneous HPC systems. Required expertise includes numerical analysis and PDE analysis; preferred skills include variational methods, finite element methods (CG/DG/mixed), finite volume methods, and programming with C/C++, Python, Git, and Linux.
