The University of Bologna, Department of Industrial Chemistry, is offering exciting PhD and postdoctoral positions as part of the ERC Synergy Project CONCERT. These opportunities are focused on computational and theoretical chemistry, with a particular emphasis on spectroscopy, excited-state dynamics, and molecular photodynamics. The project brings together a world-class team of scientists from leading institutions, including Politecnico di Milano, Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, University of California Irvine, and the University of Bologna.

Successful candidates will join an international research team working at the forefront of computational spectroscopy and excited-state theory. The group is composed of 14 PhD students and 20 postdocs, providing a vibrant and collaborative environment. Research themes include the development and application of advanced computational methods to study molecular systems, with the goal of achieving transformative advances in spectroscopy and photodynamics.

PhD positions start on November 1, 2026, with a duration of 3 years and an annual salary of €25,000. Postdoctoral positions are available for 2 years (renewable), with a negotiable start date (preferably before June 30, 2026) and a salary ranging from €27,000 to €55,000 per year depending on experience. These positions are fully funded by the ERC Synergy Project CONCERT.

Applicants should have a strong background in chemistry, physics, or related fields, and demonstrate motivation for research in computational and theoretical chemistry. For PhD positions, a relevant undergraduate or master's degree is required. For postdoctoral positions, a PhD in a related discipline is necessary.
