PhD and Postdoctoral Positions in Food System Diversification, Agricultural Economics, Nutrition, Ecology, and Bioinformatics at University of Bonn University of Bonn in United Kingdom

CRC 1780 FoodDiverse at the University of Bonn is recruiting for a major interdisciplinary research programme on food system diversification, agricultural economics, nutrition, ecology, bioinformatics, and related social sciences. The initiative is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and is conducted in close partnership with the University of Ghana.

The call includes 24 doctoral researcher positions and 8 postdoctoral researcher positions. Research themes span soil health and biodiversity, crop diversification and resilience, dietary diversity and metabolic health, food policy and trade, consumer behavior, agroforestry, and broader questions of sustainable nutrition and planetary health.

Positions are based primarily at the University of Bonn, with some projects involving partner institutions such as ZALF and LIB, and fieldwork in Germany and Ghana. The roles are 3-year fixed-term contracts at TV-L pay grade 13, starting 1 October 2026.

Project areas include soil and plant nutrient analysis, soil ecology, biodiversity research, bioinformatics and molecular microbial ecology, crop science/agronomy, agroforestry, agricultural economics, environmental economics, and statistical or machine-learning-based analysis of survey, remote-sensing, and household data.
