About this position

Simula Research Laboratory, in collaboration with Oslo Metropolitan University, is offering multiple fully funded PhD and postdoctoral positions in the fields of machine learning, algorithm design, and robotic avatars. The PhD positions are centered on foundational research and algorithm design for machine learning, with opportunities to work on multi-sensory remote robotic avatars. Postdoctoral fellowships are available in several areas: foundations and algorithm design for machine learning, remote robotic avatars for embodied interactions, and machine learning for cocreativity in remote operations. Projects involve interdisciplinary collaboration, including applications in energy, finance, societal systems, and creative problem-solving scenarios. Some positions integrate neuroscience, brain-machine interfaces, and multimodal sensory feedback for advanced human-machine interaction.

Applicants should have a strong background in machine learning, data science, optimization, and signal processing, with relevant degrees in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related fields. Experience with Python or Matlab, a solid publication record, and excellent English communication skills are required. Additional expertise in neuroscience, robotics, haptics, or physiological sensing is advantageous.
