Ghent University, one of Belgium’s leading research institutions, is offering a PhD assistant position in the Department of Accounting, Corporate Finance and Taxation within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. This role is designed for candidates interested in pursuing academic research in management accounting and control, with at least 50% of the assignment dedicated to preparing a doctoral dissertation. The position also involves assisting with teaching activities and supporting both internal and external departmental services.
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Economics, Business Economics, Business Engineering, Business Administration, Complementary Studies in Business Economics, or an equivalent qualification. For degrees awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in academic and/or project-based research and services, and any prior teaching experience or participation in extra training and conferences is considered advantageous. Excellent teaching and communication skills are essential. If your diploma is in a language other than Dutch, French, German, or English, a translation must be provided.
The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal twice for two years each, contingent on positive evaluations, up to a maximum of six years. The position starts on 1 September 2026 at the earliest. Remuneration is determined according to salary scale AAP3, and staff members enjoy a range of benefits including training opportunities, 36 days of paid leave, bicycle commuting reimbursement, ecocheques, and more.
