University of Cologne is hiring a PhD Candidate and Research Assistant (f/m/x) in Entrepreneurship and Management at the Chair/Professorship in Entrepreneurship and Management within the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences.
The position is centered on empirical research in entrepreneurship, strategic management, and international management. The chair’s teaching and research profile includes startup-specific topics, management and leadership skills, and entrepreneurial thinking and action. The role combines research participation in independent and co-author projects with teaching responsibilities, including instruction of classes and conceptual development of entrepreneurship teaching for the faculty.
Applicants should have a degree in economics, business administration, business informatics, organizational/business psychology, or a comparable programme with distinction. The post seeks candidates with a strong interest in empirical entrepreneurship and management research, especially topics such as entrepreneurship and well-being, hybrid entrepreneurship, environmental innovation, strategic and international alliances. Quantitative empirical methods and data analysis skills (for example Stata or SPSS) are highly desirable. The university also looks for an independent, self-reliant, flexible, team-oriented candidate with strong motivation, curiosity, willingness to learn, and very good written and spoken English.
The appointment is a full-time research assistant/PhD position (39.83 hours per week) starting 1 August 2026 and fixed until 31 July 2028. Compensation is according to TV-L E13, the German public sector pay scale.
