About this position
PhD opportunity in Chemistry at Université de Rennes / Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes (ISCR) within the EUR LUMOMAT project.
The project is titled “Circularly Polarized Luminescence Redox Switching of Lanthanide Organometallic Complexes” and focuses on lanthanides, redox-active ligands, circularly polarized luminescence (CPL), molecular magnetism, organometallic chemistry, and molecular materials.
The successful candidate will work on the design, synthesis, and study of redox-switchable chiral organometallic lanthanide systems with CPL response. The research includes multistep organic synthesis, coordination/organometallic chemistry, study of (chir)optical and magnetic properties, and interactions with spectroscopy and theoretical chemistry specialists.
The position is hosted by the Institute of Chemical Sciences of Rennes (ISCR), in the Organometallics: Materials and Catalysis team / Multifunctional Molecular Materials group. A collaboration with Jagiellonian University in Krakow is part of the project, and the candidate will spend eight months there across multiple stays.
This is a fully funded 3-year PhD (36 months) starting in October 2026. The announcement also notes that the University of Rennes offers French courses for foreigners and hosts an international Erasmus Mundus program.
Eligibility highlights: strong knowledge of organic synthesis is required; coordination/organometallic chemistry skills are important; interest in a multidisciplinary project is valued.
Application deadline: 15 June 2026.
How to apply: send a detailed CV, two references, and a cover letter by email to the contact address provided.
