PhD in Homochirality Regulation, Heterochirality, Aging and Disease Côte d’Azur University in France

Call for a 3-year PhD position at Côte d’Azur University on homochirality regulation and the role of heterochirality in aging and disease.

The project is hosted by the Biological Chirality Lab / INSERM research group at the Institute of Biologie Valrose (iBV) in Nice, France, in collaboration with the Institut de Chimie de Nice (ICN). The research is led by Agnes Banreti and Uwe Meierhenrich.

Research keywords include protein heterochirality, D-amino acids, epimerization, protein aggregation, and neurodegeneration. The project investigates how post-translational incorporation of non-L-amino acids affects proteome homochirality, protein folding, neuronal function, and disease progression. The post emphasizes access to unique infrastructure, including GCxGC and enantioselective HPLC-MS, developed through a long-standing iBV-ICN collaboration. The lab states this is the only site worldwide enabling D/L-amino acid separation from biological samples using these methods.
