The position is aimed at highly motivated candidates interested in quantitative marketing and/or consumer behavior. The group also highlights topics such as recommendation systems, consumer decision-making, digital trust, VR/AR, behavioral economics, deep learning, and marketplace morality.

Applicants should have a Master’s degree, preferably a Research Master or MPhil, in fields such as marketing, psychology, statistics, econometrics, economics, computer science, data science, business, or related disciplines. Strong programming and statistical skills are valued, especially in tools like R, Python, SPSS, Stata, SAS, and related software. For consumer behavior-oriented applicants, experience with experimental research involving human participants is preferred.

The PhD student will design and execute their own research projects in consultation with advisers, analyze experimental and secondary data, conduct lab/online/field studies, develop algorithms and analytical models, present at conferences, and publish in top journals. The environment includes access to the Erasmus Behavioral Lab, high-performance computing via SURFSara, workshops, seminars, and opportunities for international research visits.
