PhD in mitochondrial myopathy and pharmacological approaches to congenital muscle disorder VetAgro Sup in France

PhD opportunity in Lyon on a congenital muscle disorder and lipid-related mitochondrial myopathy.

The project is hosted at VetAgro Sup in Lyon, within the Institut NeuroMyoGène / Laboratory Physiopathology and Genetics of the Neuron and Muscle, and is carried out in the Gache team under the supervision of Fanny Pilot-Storck.

Research focus: mitochondrial disease, cardiolipin metabolism, HACD1/HACD2-related muscle pathology, pharmacological rescue strategies, mitochondrial bioenergetics, muscle endurance, and translational neuromuscular research. The work includes respiratory assays, flow cytometry (Seahorse and Oroboros), mitochondrial network imaging, and functional/structural assays in human and mouse cell models as well as Hacd1-KO mice.

Funding: fully funded PhD position by VetAgro Sup 2026 AAP.

Eligibility: Master 2 degree or equivalent in cell biology or physiology; strong motivation for the project; prior internships and relevant technical/soft skills are expected.
