🚀 PhD opportunity in Speech Language Models, LLMs, and Human Language Acquisition at GIPSA-lab (CNRS / Université Grenoble Alpes) and the Centre Inria de l’Université Grenoble Alpes.

The project is titled “Multimodal and Social Grounding of Speech Language Models for Studying Human Language Acquisition” and explores a key question: how do children learn language from raw sensory experience and social interaction, and how can these mechanisms inspire the next generation of conversational AI systems?

This PhD sits at the intersection of speech and language processing, multimodal machine learning (including SSL and RL), computer vision, social robotics, and cognitive science. It is a strong fit for candidates interested in combining computer science, linguistics, and cognitive science to study language learning and build more grounded AI systems.
