Exciting PhD opening in nano-emulsion engineering and food bioactives research at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Land and Food Systems, Canada.

The project is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and focuses on emulsion preparation, characterization, in-vitro digestion of food bioactives, and the development of encapsulated lipid and lipophilic bioactives for health, nutrition, functional foods, and drug delivery systems.

Research activities include experiments on emulsion systems, cell culture studies with Caco-2 and STC-1 cell lines, data analysis, paper writing, conference presentations, and collaboration in a multidisciplinary team.

Eligibility highlights: an MSc in Food Science, Chemical/Biological Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field; strong background in emulsion technology, lipid science, or gastrointestinal digestion; and practical experience with microscopy, HPLC, and spectroscopy. Preferred experience includes cell culture models and knowledge of food bioactive encapsulation or sensory evaluation.
