PhD in Polymer Physical Chemistry and Soft Matter Science for Water-in-Water Emulsions and Coacervate Core Micelles Sorbonne Université in France

PhD position in polymer physical chemistry / soft matter science at Sorbonne Université and the Soft Matter Science and Engineering Laboratory (SIMM).

The project is ANR-funded and focuses on complex coacervate core micelles for the stabilization of water-in-water emulsions. The research aims to understand the mechanisms governing adsorption, interfacial organization, and stabilization of these soft colloids, with a view to optimizing their properties. The work includes the design and study of multi-scale compartmentalized aqueous systems, polymer-based self-assemblies, and interfacial behavior.

The PhD student will work on polymer science, soft matter, formulation, and structural characterization, including scattering and microscopy. The project also mentions the development of bio-based co-assemblies and the use of synthetic block copolymers. The candidate will be responsible for formulating water-in-water emulsions and studying the relationship between micelle structure and stabilizing properties.

Eligibility: a Master's degree or engineering degree in chemistry, physical chemistry, and/or physics, with a specialization in polymers, soft matter, or formulation. Experience in scattering, microscopy, or dispersed-system formulation is a plus.

Funding: ANR-funded PhD contract, 36 months, with a gross monthly salary of 2300 euros.
