Call for applications for a fully funded PhD position at the University of Basel in sustainable real estate and buildings-sector decarbonization. The research topic addresses one of the largest sources of global emissions: the buildings sector. The PhD will examine emissions trends across countries, the effectiveness of building and climate policies, and the role of finance in sustainability transitions. The work is designed for a candidate interested in quantitative research on the built environment, decarbonization, and policy impact.

Successful applicants will conduct empirical research using large datasets, work with R and/or Python, publish papers, present at international conferences, collaborate with policymakers and industry partners, and support teaching in sustainable real estate programs.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in economics, finance, quantitative political science, public policy, or a related field; strong quantitative and analytical skills; experience with R and/or Python; interest in sustainability, real estate, and climate policy; fluent English.
