Nottingham Forest Football Club is advertising a PhD Nutrition Student opportunity within its First Team Performance department at The Nigel Doughty Academy in Nottingham, UK.

The role is designed for someone with a strong background in sports nutrition, performance nutrition, sports science, and applied research. The successful candidate will support the men’s first team as an applied nutritionist while completing a PhD focused on improving club practice and advancing the discipline through research.

Key responsibilities include implementing the performance nutrition strategy, working with the head chef and catering team on periodised menus, supporting travel and match-day nutrition provision, designing individual diet and nutrition programmes, assisting with injury and rehabilitation nutrition support, contributing to education sessions and resources, monitoring body composition, and maintaining records of nutrition interventions and outcomes. The role also includes applied research activity aligned with the club’s performance priorities.

Eligibility highlights include an MSc in sports nutrition, sports science, or a related discipline; ISAK Level 1; registration on the UK Sport & Exercise Nutrition Register; previous professional experience in sports science or sports nutrition; experience in elite sport and multidisciplinary team environments; and UKAD certification. Desirable experience includes publications, presentations, or other evidence of contribution to sport nutrition.
