About this position

Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien) is offering two University Assistant Prae-Doc (PhD) positions in the group of Professor Emanuel Ionescu at the Institute of Chemical Technologies and Analytics. These positions are ideal for motivated and curious researchers interested in materials chemistry, inorganic synthesis, and structural characterization. The research focuses on the synthesis and analysis of inorganic compounds, including high-entropy sublattices, bioactive glasses, and glass ceramics, in a collaborative and international environment.

Applicants should hold a master's or diploma degree in Chemistry or Materials Science and have experience in inorganic, metallorganic, or organometallic synthesis methods. Knowledge of structural elucidation by diffraction techniques is highly desirable, and for one position, experience with bioactive glasses and glass ceramics is preferred. Proficiency in English (C1 level) and strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are required.

The positions are fully funded for up to four years (30 hours/week), with a minimum gross salary of EUR 2,832.10 per month (paid 14 times per year), and may increase with relevant experience. TU Wien offers a hybrid working style, attractive social benefits, and a central location in Vienna. The university is committed to diversity and encourages applications from women and people with special needs.

Applications are open until February 26th, 2026. Interested candidates should review the detailed job descriptions and apply via the TU Wien online portal. For further information or special needs, contact the university's confidant for disabled persons.
