About this position

PhD opportunities are available in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the University of Arkansas for Fall 2026 / Spring 2027.

The new lab, led by Hasan Shahriar (incoming Assistant Professor), will focus on secure, resilient, and trustworthy autonomous and embodied AI systems at the intersection of artificial intelligence, cyber-physical systems, and cybersecurity.

Research directions include security and privacy, AI/ML, cyber-physical systems, embodied AI/physical AI, and critical infrastructure, with application areas such as autonomous driving, humanoid robotics, and drones / aerial systems.

The positions are described as fully funded PhD studentships. The post seeks highly motivated candidates with a BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Applicants should have research experience in at least one of AI/ML, CPS, or cybersecurity, and should be proficient in Python with hands-on experience using machine learning libraries.
