Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is advertising a PhD opportunity in Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering within the Nano Sensing and Energy Lab (NSEL), led by Associate Professor Iltai Isaac Kim. The position is aimed at talented, passionate doctoral students interested in interdisciplinary engineering, especially nanoscience, nanotechnology, and research connected to quantum information science/technology.

The lab’s current research focus includes plasmonic photocatalytic reactions, near-surface phenomena such as wetting and phase-change heat transfer, electrochemical systems, and ultrasensitive sensing and energy conversion based on nanophotonics, optical diagnostics, and thermal-fluids. NSEL also collaborates with Sandia National Laboratories, offering access to cutting-edge equipment and a strong national-lab network.

The post states that students can pursue a doctoral degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or civil), and that the doctoral program was recently approved and will start in Fall 2026.
