About this position

Monash University is advertising PhD opportunities in plant genomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, genetics, and crop improvement under a project titled Designing the Crops of Tomorrow. The research focuses on the molecular genetic basis of temperature responses in plants and uses advanced genomic and computational approaches to design crops with varied thermal responses, with relevance to climate change and global food security.

The project is a collaborative international effort involving Australian Chief Investigators Dr Sridevi Sureshkumar and Prof Sureshkumar Balasubramanian, Monash collaborators A/Prof Sefi Rosenbluh and Prof David Powell, and Indian collaborators Prof Alok Sinha and Dr Aashish Ranjan from the BRIC-National Institute of Plant Genome Research in New Delhi, India.

Ideal applicants should have excellent grades and a strong background in molecular biology and genetics, computational biology and bioinformatics, biochemistry, and plant molecular biology or related fields. The post also highlights the AISRF program’s commitment to promoting Women in Science and strongly encourages qualified women to apply.

This is a funded PhD project supported by the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF). The post does not specify stipend amount, tuition coverage, or other financial terms.

To apply, candidates should first review the Monash PhD program entry requirements and then submit an application via the My App portal using the provided link.
