PhD opportunity in quinoa genomics at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in the Department of Agriculture, Food and Resource Sciences. The project is led by Purushothaman Natarajan, an Assistant Professor and Principal Investigator working in genomics, bioinformatics, and machine learning.

The selected PhD student will contribute to research on genotype screening, field experiments, greenhouse trait evaluation, sequencing data analysis, pangenome analysis, GWAS, RNA-seq analysis, and the integration of genomics for crop improvement. This is a strong fit for students interested in plant genomics, bioinformatics, genetics, and data-driven agriculture.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in Agriculture, Plant Science, Genetics, Genomics, Bioinformatics, or a related field; experience in fieldwork and greenhouse experiments; familiarity with sequencing analysis, pangenomics, GWAS, or RNA-seq preferred; strong data analysis and manuscript writing skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
