PhD Position: Acoustic Digital Twin and Sonic Architecture of the Long Room, Trinity College Dublin Trinity College Dublin in Ireland

This project aims to pioneer new approaches to the preservation and enhancement of one of Europe’s premier cultural heritage landmarks by exploring its acoustic experiences and sonic architecture.

The research will utilize state-of-the-art robot-aided acoustic measurements and advanced computational and acoustic modeling techniques. The goal is to develop a versatile Acoustic Digital Twin, integrating these findings with existing 3D image data to provide a comprehensive understanding of the Long Room’s sonic environment. This initiative will redefine how cultural heritage spaces are studied and preserved, combining engineering, architecture, and digital humanities.

The project is supervised by Assistant Professor Nils Peters from the School of Engineering at Trinity College Dublin.
