About this position
Dr. Ye Wang at the Eindhoven University of Technology is recruiting a PhD student to join her research group in Fall 2026. The position is focused on the synthesis and processing of 2D quantum materials for future semiconductor chips, with a particular emphasis on CMOS scaling. The research will be conducted within the Department of Applied Physics & Science Education and is closely associated with the Plasma & Materials Processing Group at TU/e, a leading center for atomic-scale processing and surface science.
The successful candidate will work on advanced topics in 2D materials synthesis, such as chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and metal-organic CVD (MOCVD), and will explore the physics of 2D semiconductor devices. The group’s research spans quantum materials, nanotechnology, and the development of next-generation chips, leveraging state-of-the-art plasma and surface diagnostics. The Plasma & Materials Processing Group is internationally recognized for its work in atomic layer deposition, nanolayer fabrication, and the study of plasma-material interactions for applications in nanoelectronics and energy technologies.
Applicants should have a strong background in 2D materials synthesis, with experience in CVD or MOCVD being advantageous, and a solid understanding of 2D semiconductor device physics. A degree in physics, materials science, electrical engineering, or a related field is required. Candidates must also ensure their academic background complies with the Knowledge Security Guidelines as outlined in the application link.
For more information about Dr. Ye Wang’s research, visit her lab website and the Plasma & Materials Processing Group page. The application deadline is December 28, 2025. Interested candidates should review the Knowledge Security Guidelines and apply via the provided link. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team at a top European research university and contribute to cutting-edge developments in quantum materials and nanoelectronics.
