PhD Position in Air-Sea Interaction: Sea Breeze Dynamics and Oceanic Circulation The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel

This PhD position at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem focuses on the dynamic processes of air-sea interaction, specifically the role of the sea breeze in modulating oceanic circulation and air-sea fluxes. The project combines advanced numerical modeling (including large eddy simulations and coupled air-sea models) with extensive observational fieldwork, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of these phenomena. The successful candidate will join the Physical Oceanography in Multiple Scales (POMS) Lab led by Dr. Aviv Solodoch, a Senior Lecturer whose research spans boundary current instability, vortex dynamics, density currents, and air-sea interactions. The lab employs both innovative instrumentation and computational approaches to study physical ocean processes. The position offers an annual stipend ranging from 22,500 to 33,800 USD, depending on qualifications.
