About this position

TUD Dresden University of Technology, recognized as a University of Excellence, is one of Germany's leading research institutions, known for its interdisciplinary approach and commitment to addressing global challenges. The Faculty of Computer Science, Institute of Theoretical Computer Science, and the newly established Chair of Algorithmic and Structural Graph Theory invite applications for a Research Associate / PhD Student position. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research group focused on the design and analysis of graph algorithms, with possible specialization in parameterized algorithms, structural graph theory, graph symmetries and similarities, and algorithmic model theory.

The position is initially for three years, with the possibility of extension, and is remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L. The role involves conducting scientific research with the aim of publishing and presenting results at top-tier theoretical computer science venues, as well as contributing to teaching activities, including mentoring M.Sc., B.Sc., or Diploma students. Applicants should have or be close to completing an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a closely related field, with demonstrated research experience through publications or a relevant thesis.

Strong knowledge of algorithms and discrete mathematics, excellent English skills, and a willingness to learn German (for teaching duties) are required.
