Open PhD position in amyloid fibril structure determination by cryo-EM at the Molecular Structure and Biophysics Group, Ernst Ruska-Centre (ER-C), Forschungszentrum Jülich. The project is part of LipAgg MSCA DN, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions doctoral network funded by the European Union.

The research focuses on the structural characterization of lipid-associated amyloid fibrils and aims to understand how lipids influence fibril structure and contribute to amyloid formation in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. This is a strong fit for candidates interested in biology, physics, chemistry, neuroscience, and structural biophysics.

The network offers 15 PhD positions across multiple European institutions, plus network-wide training and secondments at Université Paris-Saclay (6 months) and Schrödinger (3 months). The position starts in September 2026.
