PhD Position in Amyloid Fibril Structure Determination by Cryo-EM and Lipid-Associated Neurodegeneration Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany

Open PhD position in the Molecular Structure and Biophysics Group at the Ernst Ruska-Centre (ER-C), Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany.

The project is part of LipAgg MSCA DN, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions doctoral network funded by the European Union. The research focuses on amyloid fibril structure determination by cryo-EM and the role of lipids in amyloid formation and the progression of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

The specific project in this group aims at the structural characterization of lipid-associated amyloid fibrils by cryo-EM to understand how lipids affect fibril structure. The network offers 15 PhD positions across multiple European institutions, plus network-wide training and secondments at Université Paris-Saclay (6 months) and Schrödinger (3 months).
