About this position

The Institut Pasteur de São Paulo is inviting applications for a PhD position in the MICRONATIB project, funded by FAPESP, within the Therapeutics for Combating Multidrug-Resistant Pathogens Lab (TCMP) led by Caio Haddad Franco. The research focuses on the identification of new therapies targeting intracellular Staphylococcus aureus by screening natural compounds using high-content microscopy and phenotypic screening platforms. The successful candidate will receive training in cell biology, microbiology, and advanced screening techniques, and will be involved in a multidisciplinary and multicentric project with national and international collaborations.

Applicants should have a Master's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biomedicine, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or related fields, with desirable experience in cell culture and/or microbiology. The project offers a FAPESP-funded scholarship, providing financial support for the duration of the PhD. The application requires submission of a CV (NIH format), contact information for two academic references, and a letter of intent (maximum 1 page, Arial 12, single spacing, normal margins) to [email protected] by March 6, 2026. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in antimicrobial discovery, high-content screening, and the integration of cell biology and microbiology approaches to address multidrug-resistant pathogens. The Institut Pasteur de São Paulo provides a dynamic research environment with access to cutting-edge technology and collaborative networks.
