About this position

The University Hospital Center Lausanne (CHUV) in Switzerland is offering a fully funded PhD position in Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience, with a focus on social cognition. The position is based in the Neuroscape@NeuroTech Laboratory, part of the University Neurorehabilitation Service (SUN), and is led by Prof. Arseny Sokolov. The research is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and is part of a new program titled “Integrative analyses of the brain networks underwriting everyday life social cognition.”

This opportunity is ideal for highly motivated Master’s graduates in neuroscience, psychology, or related fields such as biomedical engineering or computer science applied to neuroscience. The research will involve conducting neuroimaging experiments (MRI/fMRI) with both healthy participants and patients with brain lesions, administering behavioral tasks, collecting and analyzing neurobehavioral data, and performing advanced analyses such as Voxel-Based Lesion-Symptom Mapping (VLSM) and multimodal brain connectivity studies. The goal is to better understand the brain networks involved in social cognition and to inform neurorehabilitation strategies.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team, including senior postdoctoral researchers with expertise in neuroimaging and clinical cognitive neuroscience. The PhD will be awarded through the Lemanic Neuroscience Doctoral School, which provides comprehensive training in both theoretical and experimental neuroscience.

Applicants should have a Master’s degree in a relevant field, prior experience with human participant research and data analysis, and a strong interest in quantitative methods and experimental design. Experience working with patients is a plus. The position offers a collaborative and stimulating environment, access to state-of-the-art equipment, and the chance to work at the interface of basic and clinical research.

Employment at CHUV includes excellent social benefits, such as generous parental leave, regular salary progression, a 13th salary, 25 days of vacation, training opportunities, and support for relocation. The application deadline is January 7, 2026, and the position is expected to start in March 2026.

To apply, candidates must submit their application electronically via the official CHUV recruitment platform. For questions, Dr. Leyla Loued-Khenissi is the contact person. For technical issues, applicants can contact the recruitment team at [email protected].
