This PhD position offers the opportunity to develop and test new theories about consumer behavior and psychology using quantitative and experimental research methods. The program is designed for candidates with a strong background in psychology, business, statistics, or related fields, who aspire to become leading academic researchers. The Marketing group at RSM is internationally recognized, with faculty publishing in top journals and a strong commitment to open science practices.

The department is diverse, collaborative, and supportive, providing an intellectually stimulating environment. PhD students are encouraged to define their own research agendas in consultation with their advisers and have the opportunity to collaborate with multiple faculty members. Research topics within the group include advertising psychology, pro-societal consumer interventions, judgment and decision making, self-control and consumption, technology and behavior, numerical processing, biological influences on consumption, consumer preferences measurement, pro-social behavior, and marketplace morality. The program includes rigorous training in experimental design, statistics, and seminars in consumer behavior and psychology, with additional workshops and opportunities to build an international research network.

Students have access to state-of-the-art research facilities, including the Erasmus Behavioral Lab and high-performance computing resources. The position is fully funded and salaried, with a monthly salary between €3,059 and €3,881, and includes benefits as per the Dutch university collective agreement. Funding is also available for research visits to leading international institutions.

Applicants must have a relevant Master's degree, experience with experimental research, strong statistical and empirical software skills, and excellent English writing and communication abilities.
