About this position
The University of Florida's Department of Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Sciences is offering a PhD student position in the Hydrology and Water Quality Lab, led by Assistant Professor Golmar Golmohammadi. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research group at the Range Cattle Research & Education Center (RCREC), focusing on the development of next-generation decision support systems (DSS) for sustainable water resources management.
This research opportunity centers on the application and development of physically based hydrologic and water-quality models, as well as optimization techniques, to support decision-making at both field and watershed scales. The work will have a strong emphasis on agricultural systems, best management practices (BMPs), scenario analysis, and the creation of stakeholder-oriented DSS tools. The project is ideal for students interested in hydrology, water quality, environmental modeling, and the integration of AI/ML and remote sensing technologies in environmental systems.
Preferred candidates will have experience in hydrologic and/or water-quality modeling, AI/ML applications for environmental systems, remote sensing, geospatial data analysis, and programming (Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN). Applicants must currently reside in the United States and possess a Master’s degree from a reputable U.S. institution in agricultural engineering, soil science, environmental science, hydrology, or a related field.
To apply, send your CV and transcripts to Dr. Golmar Golmohammadi at [email protected]. The position is set to begin in Fall 2026. For more information, visit the supervisor's LinkedIn profile.
