PhD Position in Immunology and Advanced Imaging (m/f/d) at Universität des Saarlandes, Germany, in the Center for Integrative Physiology and Molecular Medicine (CIPMM) and the Center for Gender-specific Biology and Medicine (CGBM).

This PhD project focuses on sex-specific mechanisms in T cell immunity, with a strong emphasis on immunology, advanced imaging, super-resolution microscopy, and multi-omics. The research aims to uncover how cytotoxic T cell granule heterogeneity shapes anti-tumor immunity and why immune plasticity differs between men and women.

The project uses cutting-edge methods including SIM, TIRFM, CLEM, confocal live-cell imaging, functional assays, transcriptomics, proteomics, and flow cytometry. The selected candidate will work in a collaborative, international environment with access to state-of-the-art imaging infrastructure at CIPMM and will be integrated into a high-impact research program in sex-specific biology and medicine.

Eligibility highlights: Master’s degree in Cell Biology, Immunology, Bioinformatics, or a related field; strong interest in advanced microscopy and molecular biology; desirable experience in cell culture, high-end imaging, multi-omics, and flow cytometry; English proficiency required; German is a plus.

Funding: 36 months, TV-L E13 (65%), funded by the Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS). The position also offers mentorship, career development support, and funding for international conferences and training.
