About this position

We are hiring a PhD student in Immunology and Cell Therapy for research on pediatric B-ALL (B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia) at the Tettamanti Research Center in Monza, Italy.

The project is hosted by the Immunology and Cell Therapy Group, led by Giovanna D’Amico, Head of the Immunology and Cell Therapy Unit. The center is internationally recognized in pediatric hemato-oncology and translational research, with a strong focus on the leukemic bone marrow microenvironment.

Research focus: the PhD project will investigate the pro-leukemic role of M2 macrophages and their contribution to chemoresistance in pediatric B-ALL. The work will also explore novel therapeutic strategies to target or reprogram leukemia-associated macrophages. The group’s recent work includes studies on Activin A, the bone marrow niche, monocyte/macrophage compartments, and leukemia-stroma interactions.

Methods and training: cell culture, molecular biology techniques, flow cytometry, and in vivo animal models. The post highlights access to modern infrastructure, state-of-the-art equipment, and a dynamic collaborative environment.

Eligibility/preferences: the call seeks a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative candidate. Prior experience in immunology, cell culture, and mouse models is considered an advantage.

Application window: applications are open from July 1, 2026 to July 22, 2026 at 12:00 PM Italian time.
