About this position

Radboud University is inviting applications for a fully funded PhD position in Mathematics in Analysis and Geometry on Manifolds and Foliations, based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands.

The project is part of the NWO ENW-M2 project “New invariants of singular foliations” and focuses on developing and applying new invariants for singular foliations. The research uses advanced tools from modern mathematics, including Lie groupoids, cyclic cohomology, C*-algebras, K-theory, index theory, and differential geometry and analysis on manifolds.

The PhD candidate will work under the supervision of Dr Peter Hochs, in collaboration with Dr Hessel Posthuma at the University of Amsterdam and a broader national research network. The position includes independent and collaborative research, publication in peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, seminar participation, and up to 10% teaching.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in Mathematics (or expected before the start date), with a background in geometry, analysis, or mathematical physics; strong English; and a motivated, creative, proactive research profile.

Funding: fully funded 4-year PhD position with a starting salary of €3,059/month rising to €3,881/month, plus 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus. The contract starts with 1.5 years and is extended to 4 years after positive evaluation.

Application deadline: 24 May 2026. Preferred start date: 1 September 2026. Apply via the official Radboud University portal and submit a motivation letter, CV, transcripts, and any additional documents requested.
