PhD Position in Medical Image Analysis and Artificial Intelligence (MSK Imaging) Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium

A PhD position is available in the field of medical image analysis and artificial intelligence, with a focus on musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging of the lower extremities. The research will be conducted within Prof. Jef Vandemeulebroucke’s group at the Department of Electronics and Informatics (ETRO), Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium. The project aims to develop advanced AI-driven methods for inferring anatomically plausible 3D/4D representations from sparse clinical imaging data, contributing to the development of a motion intelligence platform for orthopedic surgery.

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team working at the intersection of medical science, computer science, and biomedical engineering. The position is based in Brussels, with a flexible start date between June and September 2026.
