The International Helmholtz Research School for Nanoelectronic Networks (IHRS NanoNet) at the University of Dresden offers a highly interdisciplinary PhD programme in the field of molecular electronics. The programme also offers intensive courses in management, communication, and leadership, as well as sponsored participation in conferences and the IHRS NanoNet Annual Workshop. Some departments may require doctoral candidates to teach, providing valuable teaching experience.

Applicants must hold or be about to earn a Master's degree (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, or materials science. Proof of English proficiency is required unless English is the applicant's mother tongue or the official language of instruction at their previous institution. Acceptable certificates include TOEFL, Cambridge Assessment English, or IELTS.

Tuition fees are not charged, and the semester contribution is approximately 290 EUR (not mandatory). Living costs are estimated at 1,000 EUR per month. While scholarships are not available during the current academic year, funding opportunities within the university may exist. The application process is open year-round, and candidates should apply directly to the principal investigators. Support services for international students include welcome events, tutoring, specialist counselling, visa assistance, and general support from the HZDR International Office.

The IHRS NanoNet provides structured research and supervision, research training, and career advisory services through the HZDR Career Center for Doctoral Researchers and Postdocs. The supervisor-student ratio is typically three to eight PhD students per supervisor, ensuring close academic guidance. The programme is located in Dresden, Germany, offering a dynamic academic and cultural setting for doctoral research.

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
